As you gain experience, you can advance to the role of a plumbing manager or supervisor. Even if you’re not interested in plumbing or heating, you can also own your own business. If you’d like to pursue a college degree, you can get a job in computer-aided design, building information modeling, or in other areas that require more knowledge, you can also become a plumbing engineer.

Careers in Plumbing

If you’re interested in becoming a plumber, you may want to consider pursuing a plumbing apprenticeship. These programs combine classroom instruction and hands-on training. Apprentices learn the trade by working alongside qualified journeymen. Under a written agreement known as an indenture, an employer agrees to teach the apprentice all of the essential skills required for the job. Apprentices learn how to design, install, repair, and maintain piping systems, including water, waste, and soil.

The program is accredited by the Commonwealth’s Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gas-fitters Bilston Plumbing and Heating. The course will be taught by a licensed plumbing contractor or builder.
